Senior Data Scientist, AD/ADAS

Salary: £54,000 - 94,000 per year

Requirements:

• Masters or PhD degree in a quantitative field related to science and engineering
• 5+ years of experience in AD/ADAS, robotics, computer vision, or behavioral planning, through industry or research
• 3+ years of experience in data science or related areas, including machine learning, deep learning, statistical analysis, A/B testing, and mathematical modeling
• Experience building machine learning algorithms and infrastructure, including data preprocessing and postprocessing, sampling and curation, ablation studies, and evaluation
• Experience writing software using Python data science libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn, and pandas; databases; and cloud platform services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Nice to have: 5+ years of experience in data science or related areas
• Nice to have: 2+ years of technical leadership or management experience in data science or related areas for business applications, such as production, commercial service, or public service development
• Nice to have: Hands-on experience analyzing very large-scale databases, such as petabyte-scale data
• Nice to have: Experience with temporal, sequential, or spatial data
• Nice to have: Experience developing perception technologies such as camera image processing, computer vision, machine learning, or deep learning
• Nice to have: Experience designing data annotation rules for machine learning
• Nice to have: Experience building or managing infrastructure such as Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions
• Nice to have: Experience with behavior prediction, imitation learning, reinforcement learning, or end-to-end models
• Nice to have: Japanese language skills

Responsibilities:

• Develop data strategies for collecting, sampling, labeling, handling, and leveraging data from Toyotas market fleet, test vehicles, and simulators to improve machine learning model performance across perception and planning stacks
• Lead data-related activities across the autonomy team and company, collaborating with Toyota group stakeholders across multiple teams and time zones
• Analyze large-scale data and identify its characteristics to propose technical solutions for data curation, model improvement, and performance evaluation
• Develop evaluation frameworks and metrics to assess planner performance and identify edge cases and high-value scenarios that can improve system behavior
• Design and improve scalable data pipelines and automation for machine learning and performance evaluation
• Strengthen data science capabilities across the Autonomy teams by initiating and leading initiatives and mentoring team members
