KDB+ Software Engineer - Vice President

Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year

Requirements:

• Significant relevant experience
• Proven experience working with KDB+/q
• Deep understanding of KDB+ databases and the Q programming language
• Strong skills in Q/KDB+, Java, and Python/PyKX
• Good understanding of Linux/UNIX and operating-system tuning
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, multicast, and exchange-specific protocols such as FIX, OUCH, and ITCH
• Proven track record in profiling and optimizing for latency
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, especially under production load
• Experience working within an agile framework to support timely product delivery
• Understanding of market microstructure, connectivity, smart order routers, and algorithmic trading systems is an advantage
• Bachelors or university degree, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop real-time market data and analytics systems, leading KDB+/q development for trading and analytics platforms
• Own technical delivery and collaborate with traders, quants, and global technology teams to build high-performance, low-latency solutions
• Apply advanced knowledge of system flows and develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation
• Build knowledge of how business areas, including architecture and infrastructure, integrate to achieve business goals
• Assess risk in business decisions, safeguard our reputation, clients, and assets, comply with applicable laws and policies, exercise sound ethical judgment, and transparently escalate, manage, and report control issues
• Conduct feasibility studies and time and cost estimates; develop models and applications; and establish or implement systems and programs to meet business or user needs
• Monitor and control all phases of the development process, including analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation
• Provide application user and operational support to business users
• Consult with users, clients, and technology groups, recommend programming solutions, and install and support customer-facing systems
• Operate with a limited level of direct supervision
• Perform other job-related duties as required
