DevOps / Application Engineer

Requirements:

• Strong Python development skills, particularly for automation and operational tooling.
• Experience in DevOps, Production Engineering, Platform Engineering, or SRE.
• Experience supporting business-critical, high-availability applications.
• Good understanding of CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, and software development lifecycles.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, resilience, failover, and capacity management.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across applications and infrastructure.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive approach with strong ownership and problem-solving capability.
• Financial Services, Capital Markets, or Trading Technology experience is an advantage.
• Exposure to risk, trading, or regulatory technology is an advantage.
• Cloud, containers, and modern DevOps tooling experience is an advantage.
• Experience in large-scale distributed or high-performance computing environments is an advantage.

Responsibilities:

• Develop Python-based automation and tooling to improve operational efficiency.
• Support and enhance critical production applications and services.
• Drive improvements across resilience, availability, performance, and capacity.
• Manage deployments, releases, production readiness, and failover activities.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions.
• Troubleshoot complex application, infrastructure, and batch-processing issues.
• Identify root causes and deliver sustainable technical solutions.
• Contribute to CI/CD, automation, and wider DevOps and engineering best practices.

This is a hands-on contract role based in London on a hybrid working arrangement, offering £550 to £650 per day inside IR35.
