Salary: £41,000 - 71,500 per year

Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of experience in Technical Business Analysis, ideally in a data-focused environment.
  • Strong SQL skills, including independently writing, troubleshooting and optimizing complex queries.
  • Demonstrable experience with SQL performance tuning, data reconciliation and large-scale data extraction.
  • Knowledge of data warehouse and ETL design and development methodologies.
  • Experience gathering requirements, producing technical documentation and translating business needs into technical solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including confidence engaging with front-office and senior business stakeholders.
  • Experience managing multiple workstreams, competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • A proactive, self-starting approach and the ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables.
  • Experience using Jira for task management, project tracking and workflow coordination.
  • Desirable: experience in investment banking, financial services or capital markets; Python; the Hadoop and big data ecosystem, including Hive, Impala, HDFS, Apache Spark, Spark-SQL, UDF and Sqoop; Tableau and reporting best practices; project management or delivery; or regulatory change and business transformation.
  • We will also consider candidates from outside financial services who can demonstrate strong technical, analytical and stakeholder management capabilities.
Responsibilities:
  • Write, develop and optimize complex SQL scripts, including data reconciliation, performance tuning and large-scale data extraction.
  • Work with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, data quality and operational efficiency.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into actionable solutions, producing BRDs, FRDs and supporting project documentation.
  • Support the planning and execution of UAT, including test strategies, scenarios and documentation.
  • Collaborate with IT and architecture teams to turn technical designs and low-level requirements into effective data solutions.
  • Manage project deliverables, milestones, actions and dependencies, ensuring work meets agreed timelines and quality expectations.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on data solutions, reporting best practices and process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate project tracking and documentation using Jira.
  • Drive continuous improvement in code quality, testing, reliability and delivery processes.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior management.

We are seeking a Technical Business Analyst to support the Markets Transformation function of a leading global financial services organization. You will join the Data Acquisition team and work across regulatory, business and technology initiatives, partnering with front-office stakeholders, technology teams and senior management. The role combines hands-on SQL development, technical business analysis, stakeholder engagement and project delivery in complex data environments. It is based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, with hybrid working requiring three days per week in the office. This is an initial nine-month contract with a view to extension, offering a day rate of £450–£475. We are looking for someone who combines technical strength with analytical, communication and organizational skills and can turn ad hoc business requests into structured, longer-term solutions.
