D365 Finance Functional Consultant (Contract)

Requirements:

• Strong experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance / D365 F&O
• Experience delivering multiple end-to-end D365 Finance implementations
• Strong knowledge of core Finance functionality, ideally including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Cash & Bank Management, and financial reporting
• Experience gathering and translating Finance requirements into D365 solutions
• Good understanding of Finance processes and controls
• Experience supporting data migration and testing/UAT
• Confidence constructively challenging an implementation partner and representing our interests
• Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience working directly with senior Finance stakeholders
• Ability to work autonomously as the primary D365 Finance functional specialist within a client-side team
• A formal accounting background or qualification is advantageous but not essential
• Comfortable travelling regularly to East Sussex and working closely with the business on-site

Responsibilities:

• Act as our client-side functional SME for Dynamics 365 Finance
• Work with Finance stakeholders to understand existing processes, requirements, and future-state objectives
• Translate business requirements into effective D365 Finance solutions
• Work closely with the implementation partner throughout design and delivery
• Review and constructively challenge proposed solutions where appropriate
• Ensure the delivered solution remains aligned with business and Finance requirements
• Support process design, configuration decisions, and solution validation
• Support data migration, cleansing, reconciliation, and validation activities
• Support functional testing, UAT, and defect resolution
• Work with internal Finance SMEs to prepare the business for implementation
• Help develop internal D365 knowledge and reduce long-term dependency on external partners
• Support key implementation stages, including testing, cutover, go-live, and hypercare

We are supporting a well-established UK business with a major Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance implementation. This is a hands-on, client-side contract role within a relatively lean delivery team, working with senior Finance stakeholders, internal SMEs, a Project Manager, and the implementation partner. The initial contract is 12 months, with a November start, an outside-IR35 status, and a rate of £500–£600 per day. The role is based in East Sussex and involves an average of approximately three days per week on-site, with increased on-site attendance around workshops, key delivery milestones, cutover, and go-live, and greater flexibility during other phases.
