Senior Software Engineer ATMS

Salary: £50,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements:

• Relevant years of active, hands-on software development experience working in a team environment
• Relevant years of experience with C/C++/C#
• Experience using UML in software design and other methodologies
• Real-time embedded software programming experience
• Knowledge of RTOS
• Knowledge of low-level communication protocols, including Ethernet, Serial, and PCI Bridge
• Hands-on fault investigation experience in an embedded code environment
• Experience using tools for software configuration management, requirements definition, high-level and detailed design, and defect reporting
• Desirable: Minimum 2:1 degree in computer science or a related subject
• Desirable: Experience working in an Agile/SCRUM/DevOps delivery model
• Desirable: Knowledge of radar systems
• Desirable: Hands-on experience reverse engineering a mature system to take advantage of modern technology developments in hardware, software, and firmware
• Desirable: Competency with design patterns and their application to solving complex problems

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop product functionality, user interfaces, and performance improvements
• Contribute to and review gate and design reviews
• Act as a subject matter expert within a wider software and systems engineering group to analyse and resolve software and system defects in response to service requests, incidents, problems, and events
• Validate and verify design artefacts from internal teams or subcontractors
• Provide input to configuration, safety, and quality management as appropriate
• Document designs and advise on product support material
• Investigate product issues and develop solutions to customer problems
• Develop test plans and methodologies to ensure products meet our quality standards
• Lead continuous technical improvement and re-architecting activities
• Assist in updating software design artefacts
• Interface with COTS vendors for technical support
• Provide technical support across the entire software lifecycle to programmes delivering new capabilities

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Air Traffic Management Systems Software team in Harlow, Essex. The role is hybrid, with four days a week on site, and is full time at 37 hours per week, with an early finish on Fridays.
