Senior Neo4j Engineer

Salary: £10,920 - 10,920 per year

Requirements:

• Senior experience with Neo4j graph database engineering
• Ability to interpret solution architecture into Neo4j approaches and tasks
• Experience directing a small engineering team to deliver high-quality work
• Experience designing graph database schemas and data models
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines
• Strong Cypher query development and optimisation skills
• Experience building APIs/integration layers for downstream consumers
• Experience with performance tuning, indexing, and scaling Neo4j
• Experience collaborating on ontology, knowledge, and schema changes
• Experience with graph quality metrics, confidence scores, and data lineage
• Experience with APOC and Neosemantic processing

Responsibilities:

• We interpret the solution architects instructions into Neo4j approaches and tasks, and direct a small engineering team to deliver them to a high standard
• We design and build Neo4j graph database schemas, translating target models into node and relationship structures
• We define, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, transform, and load source data into the graph
• We design sub-graph views to control the content available to downstream consumers
• We write and optimise Cypher queries for loading, transformation, and application-facing retrieval
• We implement graph data models that balance query performance with semantic accuracy
• We build and maintain APIs and integration layers exposing graph data to downstream consumers, including the chatbot
• We collaborate with the Knowledge Graph Architect to implement ontology, knowledge, and schema changes as code
• We support performance tuning, indexing, and scaling of the Neo4j instance
• We automate data refresh and synchronisation processes between source systems and the graph
• We troubleshoot data integrity and pipeline issues in collaboration with the Quality Engineer
• We document graph schema and data lineage
• We define, design, and implement graph quality metrics and measurement techniques to maintain, calculate, and display confidence scores
• We define and design APOC and Neosemantic processing within Neo4j to identify and manage orphans, orphaned subgraphs, duplicates, and high-similarity objects

We are recruiting for a Senior Neo4j Engineer for an initial 7-month contract in the financial industry. The role is based in London with a hybrid working pattern of 1-2 days per week on site, and the day rate is £910 inside IR35.
