Security Manager

Salary: £40,000 - 40,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for someone with strong security management experience who can combine technical knowledge with confident and effective people management.
• We ideally want experience managing a security team within a complex organisation or estate.
• We want good knowledge of CCTV, access control and alarm systems.
• We prefer experience beyond simply operating security systems, ideally including installation, integration or development.
• We value experience developing or contributing to security policies and procedures.
• We need strong contractor and stakeholder management skills.
• We are looking for someone with the confidence to manage different personalities and hold their own when required.
• We value a diplomatic, intuitive and measured approach to dealing with people and situations.
• We need flexibility to respond appropriately when unexpected issues arise.
• A full UK driving licence is required.
• Previous experience within education would be advantageous but is not essential.

Responsibilities:

• We will rely on you to take responsibility for the day-to-day management and development of our security service.
• We will expect you to lead a team consisting of a Supervisor and Site Stewards, with potential responsibility for a further team of Welfare Wardens.
• You will manage the performance, development and day-to-day operation of the security team.
• You will oversee CCTV, access control, alarm and wider security systems.
• You will support the installation, integration and development of security systems, not just their day-to-day operation.
• You will develop and review security policies, procedures and working practices.
• You will manage security incidents and ensure appropriate escalation and response.
• You will oversee aspects of parking and traffic management.
• You will liaise with contractors and external service providers.
• You will work collaboratively with teams across our organisation to maintain a safe and welcoming campus environment.
• You will support the delivery of an effective out-of-hours security service.
• You may occasionally need to respond to calls outside normal working hours and, where necessary, attend site.

We are an education organisation in Hampshire seeking an experienced Security Manager for an initial 9-month interim assignment. This is a varied management role combining people leadership, operational security and security systems management. You will lead an established team responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for students, staff and visitors, while helping to develop and improve our wider security provision. The role is primarily Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with some flexibility required, and occasional rare out-of-hours support. This is an excellent opportunity to take responsibility for an established security operation while helping to shape and develop the service over the course of the assignment.
