Unix Engineer

Salary: £104,000 - 143,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are seeking an experienced UNIX Engineer with strong commercial experience administering Oracle Solaris environments.
• We need hands-on expertise with LDOM (Logical Domains) configuration and management.
• We require experience supporting Oracle T-Series servers, including T5, T7 and T8.
• We are looking for a proven background delivering UNIX migration and upgrade projects.
• We need experience implementing and supporting resilient cluster technologies.
• We require a solid understanding of UNIX networking, storage and security.
• We need strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills within enterprise environments.
• Oracle Solaris certifications or equivalent UNIX qualifications are desirable.
• Experience working within large-scale enterprise or government environments is desirable.
• Automation and scripting experience using Shell, Python or similar technologies is desirable.
• Knowledge of infrastructure automation and system optimisation is desirable.
• Applicants must hold, or be eligible to obtain, SC Security Clearance.
• Applicants must be a sole UK British National; dual nationality cannot be considered.
• Candidates must be comfortable working within highly secure environments handling sensitive information.

Responsibilities:

• We will administer, support and maintain Oracle Solaris environments across enterprise infrastructure.
• We will configure and manage Logical Domains (LDOMs) on Oracle T-Series hardware.
• We will deliver UNIX migration and upgrade projects with minimal service disruption.
• We will design, implement and support high-availability clustering solutions.
• We will monitor system performance and proactively resolve complex technical issues.
• We will work closely with infrastructure, application and project teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• We will ensure systems remain compliant with security standards and operational best practices.
• We will produce and maintain technical documentation where required.
