Senior Backend Engineer
Job Description
Salary: £70,000 - 70,000 per year
Requirements:- We need at least 5 years of commercial PHP experience.
- We need strong understanding of MySQL and messaging systems such as RabbitMQ and Redis.
- We need experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes is a plus.
- We need a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset.
- We need excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- We design, build and optimise PHP-based APIs and backend services.
- We help decouple a large PHP 7.4 monorepo into modern PHP 8.1 services.
- We work with AWS, Kubernetes, MySQL, RabbitMQ, Redis and Cassandra.
- We collaborate closely with frontend, QA and product teams in a Kanban workflow.
- We contribute ideas to improve scalability, performance and reliability.
- We take ownership from concept through to deployment and support daily production releases.

You will join a collaborative, cross-functional backend engineering team in Fareham, working in a hybrid or on-site environment and reporting to an Engineering Manager who has grown internally with the company.
