Network Security Engineer

Salary: £44,000 - 47,000 per year

Requirements:

• We need someone with strong experience in Cisco network and security environments.
• We need proven hands-on expertise with Cisco Firepower (FTD/FMC) and Cisco ISE, or an alternative vendor.
• We need a solid understanding of network security principles, firewalls, VPNs, routing, and switching.
• We need experience working in a project-based environment, leading or owning technical delivery.
• We need excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• We need the ability to work independently in a remote setting while collaborating effectively with distributed teams.
• You must have full right to work in the UK and be willing to travel occasionally.
• Fortinet/FortiGate firewall experience is desirable.
• Knowledge of Cisco Stealthwatch and related Cisco security products is desirable.
• Exposure to wider Cisco security technologies such as Secure Firewall, Secure Network Analytics, and Umbrella is desirable.
• Relevant industry certifications such as CCNP Security, CCNP Enterprise, or equivalent are desirable.

Responsibilities:

• We lead the technical delivery of network and security projects from design through implementation and handover.
• We act as the lead engineer on complex customer engagements, ensuring solutions are delivered on time and to a high standard.
• We provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers involved in project delivery.
• We collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and stakeholders to align technical outcomes with business objectives.
• We implement and support enterprise-grade network and security solutions.
• We deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco Firepower firewalls, including policy configuration, VPNs, and threat protection.
• We implement and maintain Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) for network access control, authentication, and authorization.
• We work with Cisco Stealthwatch and other Cisco security tools to provide visibility, monitoring, and threat detection.
• We configure and support FortiGate firewalls where required, including firewall policies, VPNs, and security profiles.
• We produce high-quality technical documentation, including designs, implementation guides, and handover documentation.
• We serve as trusted technical advisors to customers, clearly explaining solutions and technical decisions.
• We gather technical requirements and translate them into robust, secure network designs.
• We participate in technical workshops, design reviews, and project update meetings.
• We support occasional onsite work at customer locations in the UK and Europe.
