Field Service Engineer

Salary: £60,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require candidates who are willing and eligible to go through SC and DV security clearance.
• We are looking for engineers with experience in Royal Air Force, Royal Signals, 14 Signal Regiment, REME or defence communications.
• We value experience in Electronic Warfare or secure defence systems.
• We look for experience supporting operational or deployed IT infrastructure.
• We value technical knowledge of Cisco networking, including routers and switches.
• We look for experience with Windows Server 2016, 2019 or 2022.
• We value experience with VMware ESXi or Microsoft Hyper-V, and LAN, WAN and VLAN networking.
• We look for experience with firewalls and secure network infrastructure; CCNA is advantageous.
• We value hardware installation, preventative maintenance and lifecycle management experience.
• We look for experience with cryptographic equipment.
• We value experience with satellite communications or resilient communications systems.
• We need experience working across Official, Secret or Top Secret environments.
• We look for customer-facing engineering experience within the MoD.
• We require an HNC, HND or Degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
• We require a full UK driving licence.
• We require flexibility to travel to customer sites and occasional overseas opportunities.

Responsibilities:

• We support mission-critical systems across secure defence sites.
• We carry out planned maintenance, firmware updates and infrastructure upgrades.
• We diagnose and repair hardware faults through structured root cause analysis.
• We install and configure servers, network infrastructure and virtual environments.
• We support military exercises, trials and customer acceptance testing.
• We deliver operator and maintainer training.
• We provide remote 1st and 2nd line support when required.
• We work closely with MoD customers, providing clear technical updates and confidence throughout incidents.

We are recruiting a Field Service Engineer to support advanced defence technology across secure customer sites throughout the UK for a leading tech and engineering firm operating within defence. The role is based in Hampshire with a hybrid working arrangement of 2 to 3 days working from home, and it includes participation in a 24/7 on-call rota on a one-week-in-four basis. This is a varied, customer-facing engineering role with opportunities for ongoing technical development while supporting technology that genuinely matters across some of the UKs most advanced defence systems. Candidates must be willing and eligible to go through SC and DV security clearance, and the role also offers occasional overseas opportunities.
