Data Engineer

Salary: £65,000 - 65,000 per year

Requirements:

• Experience in Data Engineering, Analysis or Science, with a solid understanding of programming languages and applying them in previous roles.
• Experience using Data Engineering tools and technology, including ETL tools, Python, and Big Data applications.
• Demonstrable ability with the technologies you have used previously, along with adaptability and willingness to learn.
• Good understanding of open source software for Data Engineering and the ability to evaluate platforms against products.
• Ability to analyse a customer problem, evaluate options, and recommend solutions.
• Up-to-date specialist knowledge of database concepts, including unstructured, NoSQL, and big data platforms, as well as object and data modelling techniques.
• Previous experience working in Cyber Security and Intelligence is desirable, but not essential.
• Successful candidates are required to hold an active eDV before applying for this opportunity.
• All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard.
• Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting and typically 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and support data collection, data integration, and ETL applications.
• Make information and data available to key client stakeholders and technical interfaces.
• Model data requirements, data sources, and data flows to bring order and structure to programmes of work.
• Define how and where data is created, mastered, and destroyed to ensure proper control over the lifecycle of corporate data assets.
• Use products to collect, integrate, store, visualise, and govern data and metadata.
• Define metadata to provide searchability and governance, including Records Management, for unstructured data.
