Job Description

Salary: £95,000 - 130,000 per year

Requirements:
  • We require applicants to be willing and eligible to apply for and obtain UK security clearance to Developed Vetting level, if not already holding existing clearance.
  • We are looking for hands-on experience with one or more relevant data engineering technologies and practices, including ingesting, transforming, enriching, and integrating data from diverse sources into well-structured information assets.
  • We need experience with distributed computing techniques such as parallel processing, streaming, and batch workflow orchestration for large data volumes.
  • We are looking for experience with ETL, data pipelines, and automated workflows for moving and processing data.
  • We value experience optimising data systems for performance, scalability, reliability, and monitoring.
  • We require knowledge of information security, including access controls, encryption, and anonymisation for sensitive data assets.
  • We value experience with data governance, including metadata management, data quality, and lineage tracking.
  • We are specifically looking for candidates with both technical and business-focused skills who can articulate the outcomes and value of their work.
  • We are looking for end-to-end development experience with data pipelines, ETL processes, and workflow orchestration across technology stacks.
  • We value experience working with diverse data sources and types, including batch, streaming, real-time, and unstructured data.
  • We need systems thinking and architectural design skills for building scalable, high-performance data solutions.
  • We are looking for data modelling, warehouse design, and database optimisation knowledge, with examples of logical and physical models.
  • We value experience deploying and managing distributed data systems.
  • We need the ability to monitor, troubleshoot, and tune systems for reliability and performance.
  • We expect coding experience that demonstrates modularity, reusability, and efficiency across languages.
  • We value understanding of the full development lifecycle, SDLC concepts, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • We need knowledge of data security, governance, metadata management, and master data principles.
  • We require strong communication skills and the ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical data solutions.

  • We work in multi-disciplinary teams across a range of industries, subject matters, and locations.
  • We apply data engineering tools, integration frameworks, and query engines to create high-quality, standardised data for downstream use cases such as AI and reporting.
  • We design and implement high-quality data pipelines and data stores, coordinating efforts with other developers and engineers.
  • We bring innovation and novel approaches to solve challenging data engineering problems.
  • We architect and implement solutions for scale and complexity that provide value across many teams and consumers.
  • We develop logical and physical data modelling and governance strategies, establishing standards across teams.
