Senior Platform Software Engineer

Salary: £59,000 - 99,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for a senior engineer with practical experience in high-performing engineering teams.
• We value advanced working knowledge of a general programming language such as Python, Java, C#, or Typescript.
• We value working knowledge of data management technologies such as SQL, NoSQL, or Databricks.
• We value working knowledge of modern software engineering tools, including Git, CI/CD pipelines, cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure, and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
• We value experience across the technology stack, including front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue, or Blazor, and/or back-end frameworks such as FastAPI, Spring Boot, or .NET.
• We value experience building and supporting different architectural approaches and the ability to justify technology and architectural choices.
• We value experience working with agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
• We value the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• We value strong problem-solving skills and the flexibility to consider different technologies and engineering approaches.

Responsibilities:

• We will have you help shape the design, implementation, and ongoing support of a greenfield Data and Processing Platform and its supporting software products.
• We will have you support the Engineering Lead in engaging with internal developers, energy system modellers, client-facing energy experts, and other users across the business.
• We will have you help build capabilities that enable teams to work more effectively and better serve our clients.
• We will have you help drive engineering best practices, ensuring quality, reliability, and observability are built into our products from inception.
• We will have you design and implement robust CI/CD automation flows and continuously improve our engineering processes.
• We will have you take an active role in all stages of our agile development approach, from refinement through to delivery.
