Software Development Engineer, Middle Mile Planning and Optimization

Salary: £42,000 - 77,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require experience in professional, non-internship software development.
• We require programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design.
• We prefer a bachelors degree in computer science or an equivalent field.
• We prefer experience with the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

• We design and deliver systems that solve complex operational and optimization problems.
• We turn ambiguous requirements into clear designs and production-ready software.
• We build pipelines that feed intelligent agents clean, trustworthy signals.
• We build execution layers that let agents act safely on live operations.
• We build evaluation harnesses that validate decision quality before systems reach the real network.
• We work on large-scale optimization and planning systems that allocate capacity efficiently.
• We own what we build, operate it in production, and remain accountable for reliability.
• We make pragmatic engineering trade-offs and contribute to high-quality code and design reviews.
• We mentor other engineers and help raise the teams technical standards.
