Job Description

Salary: £66,000 - 106,000 per year

Requirements:
  • We require proven experience building data infrastructure using Trino / Presto and open table formats such as Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake.
  • We require deep expertise in Medallion Architecture patterns, Star Schemas, and processing semi-structured financial data logs such as JSON and Avro.
  • We require expert proficiency in data transformation engines such as dbt and scheduling tools such as Airflow.
  • We require a strong understanding of event-driven architectures and streaming processing via Apache Kafka.
  • We require proficiency in Python, SQL, or an object-oriented language such as Java or Scala.
  • We value experience operating data assets in regulated SOX / PCAOB compliance environments.
  • We value familiarity with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake and cloud compute orchestration.
  • We value prior exposure to financial flows, double-entry ledger systems, or accounting integrations.
  • We require a strong sense of long-term technical ownership.
  • We require excellent communication skills and the ability to bridge technical engineering realities with financial analyst requirements.
Responsibilities:
  • We will build, scale, and optimize end-to-end data pipelines on top of our Trino + Iceberg Lakehouse stack.
  • We will own the extraction, cleaning, and modeling layers to refine raw event logs into verified subledgers and structured Gold metrics.
  • We will work with high-throughput messaging queues such as Kafka and real-time computation models to maintain data freshness SLAs.
  • We will embed rigorous, automated reconciliation checks within data pipelines, including balance and double-entry validations.
  • We will partner with finance controllers, analysts, product, and engineering teams to turn complex finance needs into production-ready data schemas.
  • We will address data scaling constraints, structural technical debt, and compute optimizations to align infrastructure costs with our financial targets.
  • We will coach mid-level and junior engineers and perform thorough code and technical design reviews.
  • We will create structured framework documentation and automated tooling to reduce onboarding friction for new data sources.
