Senior IT Support Engineer

Salary: £50,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong technical grounding across infrastructure, networking, and business applications.
• Experience supporting or guiding colleagues, even informally.
• Confidence managing suppliers, contracts, and technical decisions.
• Solid understanding of information security and UK GDPR.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to explain technical topics simply.
• A proactive, organised approach to documentation, risk, and improvement.
• Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP is desirable.
• Familiarity with ITIL or service management frameworks is desirable.
• Exposure to professional services or operations-led environments is desirable.
• Certifications such as Microsoft, ITIL, CISSP, or AWS are desirable.
• Cyber Essentials experience is desirable.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and develop our team of six across infrastructure, applications, integration, and reporting.
• Oversee our servers, networking, cloud services, end-user devices, backups, monitoring, and incident response.
• Own our documentation, risk management, and system reliability.
• Guide application development, maintenance, and integration.
• Lead our information security, policies, controls, and compliance, including UK GDPR and Cyber Essentials.
• Manage our vendors, contracts, licences, SLAs, and renewals.
• Build and deliver our IT roadmap aligned to business goals.
• Manage our IT budget and contribute to business continuity and disaster recovery planning.

We are offering a hands-on senior IT leadership role for an experienced IT support or infrastructure professional who wants to move beyond day-to-day technical work and step into a position with real influence and strategic responsibility. You will lead a small, multi-skilled team and own infrastructure, applications, security, vendor management, and the wider IT function end to end. This is a hybrid role based in Southampton, with 2 to 3 days per week in the office, giving you the opportunity to shape how our IT operates while staying close to the technology.
