Senior Software Engineer

Salary: £60,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:

• Significant commercial experience developing enterprise-scale software applications using Java.
• Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot.
• Proven experience developing and deploying cloud-native applications on AWS.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, software architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
• Experience designing, building, integrating, and supporting complex software solutions.
• Experience developing secure, scalable, resilient, and high-performing applications.
• Strong knowledge of automated testing and modern software engineering practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical decision-making.

Responsibilities:

• We design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and AWS.
• We build secure, scalable, resilient, and highly available cloud-native applications.
• We collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, Engineering Managers, Business Analysts, and cross-functional teams to deliver business-critical software.
• We contribute to software architecture, technical design, and technology selection.
• We champion engineering best practices, coding standards, and secure software development principles.
• We participate in code reviews, technical design sessions, testing, debugging, and production support.
• We identify and resolve technical risks, performance issues, and delivery challenges.
• We develop reusable components, shared frameworks, and engineering standards.
• We mentor and support other engineers through coaching, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.
• We collaborate across engineering communities to promote innovation and continuous improvement.

We are recruiting Principal, Lead, and Senior Software Engineers for a high-performing technology team on an initial 6-month contract. This is a hands-on role based in Liverpool with a hybrid working pattern of 2 days per week onsite. The contract is inside IR35. You will work alongside our Product Owners, Architects, Engineering Managers, Business Analysts, and fellow Engineers to build modern cloud-native applications and help shape technical delivery and strategy.
