z/OS Systems Programmer

Requirements:

• Extensive experience of mainframe systems programming
• Knowledge of a combination of z/OS, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, and JCL
• Knowledge of IBM and CA products
• Ability to work independently
• Excellent problem determination skills
• Strong written and spoken communication skills
• Ability to communicate complex information clearly to varied audiences
• Ability to build effective networks across business areas and develop trust-based relationships
• Experience creating and deploying comprehensive business or operating plans
• Comprehensive understanding of risk management
• Proven experience of ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory processes
• Complimentary skills preferred but not essential: Assembler, Automation, GDPS, Rexx, CLIST, Top Secret, Omegamon, RMF, SMF, and SAS

Responsibilities:

• Upgrade, maintain, and support the z/OS operating system
• Upgrade, maintain, and support ISV products, particularly from IBM and Computer Associates (CA)
• Provide production support
• Carry out programming and support activities to maintain essential environmental conditions and analysis
• Create functional and technical design solutions
• Oversee deployment, planning, configuration, and testing
• Provide off-hour support for software changes and other projects requiring software expertise
• Participate in an on-call rota

More:

We are recruiting for a z/OS Systems Programmer for an ongoing contract running until November 2026. The role is fully remote with the occasional day in the office. The rate is £549 per day inside the scope of IR35.
