Unix Engineer

Salary: £60,000 - 65,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Solaris operating systems.
• Expertise in LDOM configuration and management.
• Familiarity with Oracle T-series hardware, including T5, T7, and T8.
• Proven experience in migration projects and UNIX system upgrades.
• Knowledge of cluster technologies for resilience and failover.
• Solid understanding of UNIX networking, storage, and security principles.
• Must hold or be eligible to obtain SC clearance.
• Must be a sole UK national.
• Ability to work with sensitive and classified information in compliance with security policies.
• Preferred: certifications in Oracle Solaris or related UNIX technologies.
• Preferred: experience in large-scale enterprise environments.
• Preferred: familiarity with automation tools and scripting such as Shell and Python.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain Oracle Solaris systems on T-series hardware.
• Configure and manage LDOMs for virtualization.
• Perform system migrations and upgrades across UNIX environments.
• Design and implement resilience clusters for high availability and disaster recovery.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot complex UNIX issues.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to ensure seamless integration.
• Maintain compliance with security and operational standards.

We are seeking a Unix Engineer to work fully onsite in Barrow-in-Furness on an assignment running until 01/03/2027. The role focuses on supporting enterprise UNIX environments, particularly Oracle Solaris platforms and advanced virtualization technologies.
