Software Engineer - Defence

Salary: £54,000 - 94,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require a degree in a STEM subject or equivalent industry experience.
• We look for experience with some of the following technologies: Python, Java, Rust, JavaScript.
• We look for experience with cloud and infrastructure technologies such as AWS, Azure or GCP, Docker or Podman, and Kubernetes.
• We look for experience with software engineering approaches such as microservices, serverless architectures, REST APIs and/or gRPC, event-driven systems, DevSecOps, Git, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, Linux, and shell scripting.
• We value problem-solving ability, teamwork, and a proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement.
• Due to the nature of the work, we require eligibility for UK Security Clearance (SC).

Responsibilities:

• We design, develop and maintain software solutions.
• We work closely with engineers, architects and product teams to deliver high-quality products.
• We participate in Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Reviews and Retrospectives.
• We contribute to code reviews and engineering best practice.
• We support deployments and resolve issues in live environments.
• We continuously improve processes, tooling and software quality.
• We are involved throughout the software development lifecycle, from design and build through deployment and ongoing support.
• We help deliver secure, scalable applications using modern engineering practices.
• We broaden our experience across cloud technologies, automation, sensors and emerging technologies.
