Senior Lead Software Engineer - Squad Lead
Job Description
Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year
Requirements:- Formal training or certification on team management concepts, with proficient advanced experience.
- Strong technical background and ability to work collaboratively with peers who have equally strong technical views.
- Business-driven mentality with the ability to understand business and product requirements and translate them into an optimal engineering approach.
- Progressive mindset and willingness to challenge the status quo to achieve business goals faster.
- Extensive experience with a JVM language.
- Extensive experience automating deployment, releases, and testing in continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
- Proven track record designing and operating microservices using cloud technology and event-driven architectures.
- Strong people management skills, with a focus on acquiring, retaining, and growing talent to build a highly effective delivery team.
- Demonstrated experience leading effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools in the work environment, with the ability to set expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations.
- Experience coaching senior engineers and leads on compliant usage patterns and controls.
- Lead a squad of engineers to design, implement, and maintain the payments area of the Invest Tribe within Chase UK.
- Line-manage an engineering squad, set clear goals, support development, and build the teams delivery capability.
- Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure high-quality, maintainable, and efficient code while providing constructive feedback.
- Contribute through hands-on coding to the development of key features and solutions.
- Lead by example and set high standards for code quality, work ethic, and collaboration.
- Mentor and guide engineers in the squad, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Collaborate with product managers and other stakeholders to align technical efforts with business goals and deliver impactful results.
- Facilitate regular team meetings and retrospectives to promote open communication and address challenges or roadblocks.
- Work with Technical Leads and Principal Engineers to design robust, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions.
- Operate with a data-driven mindset by establishing and tracking metrics across delivery, systems health, and customer journeys.
- Foster an inclusive culture of high-quality engineering across the team and organization, implementing best practices and aiming for top engineering standards.
- Drive adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
- Apply knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle toolchain capabilities, including approved AI-assisted development and automation tools, to increase the value realized by automation at scale.
