Senior Data Science Manager

Salary: £61,000 - 101,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require a BSc, MSc or PhD in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computational Statistics, Machine Learning or another STEM subject.
• We require strong leadership skills with a proven track record of successful delivery of high-impact solutions to complex data science problems.
• We require mentoring and staff development experience.
• We require expert knowledge of probability and statistics.
• We require expertise in a broad range of data science and machine learning algorithms, such as Monte Carlo simulation, neural networks, logistic regression and random forest, with a proven track record of delivering solutions to complex problems.
• We require proficiency with Python or other scripting/programming languages such as R or Matlab.
• We require the ability to bring clarity to complex domains, rapidly develop a deep understanding, and challenge unclear requirements.
• We require familiarity with sports rules and strategies across sports such as football, American football, basketball, tennis, ice hockey and baseball.
• We expect curiosity and a strong desire to learn and improve.
• We expect social skills and the ability to act as a facilitator, balancing enabling others with individual contributions.
• We expect time management and asynchronous communication skills relevant for a geographically diverse engineering organization.
• We expect enthusiasm and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• We expect excellent spoken and written English.

Responsibilities:

• We will lead a team of data scientists developing the next generation of our market-leading sports models.
• We will oversee the implementation of predictive models across many sports.
• We will lead the development of algorithms to calculate the probabilities of sporting outcomes.
• We will work as part of a multidisciplinary Agile team with Software Engineers, Data Scientists, QA Engineers and a Product Manager.
• We will work closely with the principles of continuous delivery and empowered, high-performing teams.
• We will operate in a squad model to focus on business top priorities while maintaining strong ownership of our teams domain.
• We will tackle hard problems, collaborate with high-calibre engineers and deliver smart solutions with an autonomous, performance-focused approach that supports success, delivery and quality.
• We will help drive alignment and uncover edge cases when leading conversations in complex domains.
• We will support an office-first, hybrid working culture, with occasional travel as required.
