Job Description

Salary: £19,500 - 35,500 per year

Requirements:
  • We require experience in the secure design and delivery of new cloud services and solutions.
  • We require experience identifying security issues in existing system designs or products, including recommending mitigations that balance cost, risk, and usability.
  • We require knowledge of security standards and regulations such as NCSC, ISO, SoC, NIST, PCI, and GDPR.
  • We require deep architectural experience in at least one of the following specialisms: AI/ML Security, Cloud, M365, or DevSecOps Security Architecture.
  • We require experience in application architecture, software development, and/or infrastructure architecture.
  • We require clear communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • We require experience mentoring engineers and architects.
  • We require experience testing the security of software and infrastructure using appropriate security tools.
  • We require experience with Continuous Security, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery techniques.
  • We require experience in network security, web application security, and cryptographic controls.
  • We require demonstrated ability in managing, mentoring, and coaching team members and the wider community.
  • We require excellent communication skills and the ability to explain security complexities to audiences with different technical abilities.
  • We prefer experience in identity management and authentication/authorisation products and patterns.
  • We prefer industry experience in the Public, Commercial, Defence, or Healthcare sectors.
  • We prefer end-to-end security involvement, including governance, risk and compliance, operational security, supply chain security, and secure user management.
  • We prefer penetration testing qualifications such as OSCP, CREST, TIGER, or equivalent.
  • We prefer experience leading security engineers and other junior staff.
  • We prefer involvement across the full security lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
  • We design and apply strong security practices across the platforms and services we build for our customers.
  • We work with Agile delivery teams to build security practices throughout the software development journey.
  • We learn about and apply new technologies and approaches alongside talented colleagues.
  • We share knowledge and help educate both customers and Kainos team members.
  • We manage, coach, and develop a small number of staff, with a focus on performance and career development.
  • We provide direction and leadership to help the team solve challenging problems together.
