Requirements:
  • At least two years of experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software and infrastructure technologies, including Windows Desktop and Server Operating Systems, Microsoft Office and M365, Exchange, Teams Telephony, Active Directory, Palo Alto firewalls, Darktrace, VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, SAN, Citrix, SQL Server, Aruba or Extreme Wireless, and PRTG network monitoring; experience with some or all is required
  • Virtualisation experience across building, installing, configuring, and providing standard support
  • Good understanding of TCP/IP networking
  • Ability to install and decommission hardware such as laptops, printers, PCs, monitors, servers, and network equipment
  • Strong communication skills in person and by telephone, with excellent written and spoken English
  • Personable approach and ability to build rapport with IT technicians and integrate with our technical team and client IT departments
  • Ability to learn new customer networks rapidly and adapt quickly
  • Punctual and thorough working style, with strong attention to detail
  • A bachelors degree or related IT qualifications are desirable but not essential
  • A full UK driving licence is desirable
Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software problems escalated from first line
  • Investigate security alerts
  • Work with our internal teams to manage IT infrastructure and keep it up to date
  • Maintain our knowledge base and contribute to process and technical documentation
  • Follow SLAs and track ticket-resolution metrics

We are hiring a Second Line IT Support Engineer for our 24x7 technical support team, based at our head office in Chertsey, Surrey, with occasional travel to London and other client locations. The permanent, full-time role offers a basic salary of £30,000–£40,000 depending on experience, plus a £4,000 shift allowance. Shifts cover 24x7 support in alternating blocks of four days or nights on and four days off, with shifts running 8am–8pm or 8pm–8am and including a two-hour break. We support professional development, including qualifications in areas such as Microsoft, Cisco, VMware, and Palo Alto Networks.
