Operational Technology Engineer
Job Description
Salary: £65,000 - 70,000 per year
Requirements:- Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience delivering industrial automation and/or Operational Technology projects.
- Advanced knowledge of PLC, HMI and SCADA systems.
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation principles, configuration and calibration.
- Experience with industrial communication protocols including Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, Modbus RTU & TCP, and OPC UA.
- Strong understanding of industrial networks, control systems and OT infrastructure.
- Experience in commissioning, troubleshooting and maintaining industrial automation systems.
- Understanding of OT cyber security and system resilience.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organisational and project management abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good IT literacy, including Microsoft Office packages.
- Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactive, commercially aware, and able to demonstrate a genuine can-do attitude.
- High level of integrity and autonomy, with the ability to build strong relationships across the wider business.
- Develop project concepts, specifications and technical solutions.
- Design and implement automation, control and OT infrastructure.
- Manage procurement, contractors, installation and commissioning activities.
- Manage project budgets, timelines and resources.
- Provide technical leadership and governance across OT and process control systems.
- Work closely with IT, engineering, production, maintenance and other operational stakeholders.
- Support operational reliability, business continuity and asset performance.
- Ensure OT systems meet relevant cyber security and compliance requirements.
- Support the integration, resilience and ongoing development of industrial control systems.
- Identify opportunities for improvement, digitalisation and technological development.
- Troubleshoot complex automation, control and industrial networking issues.
- Drive change and deliver initiatives designed to improve operational performance.
