Job Description

Salary: £55,000 - 55,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, with a strong grasp of software engineering concepts, including OOP, design patterns, and testable code.
  • Solid experience with Python testing methodologies and designing testing strategies from the ground up for applications and APIs.
  • Strong experience designing, consuming, and integrating REST and GraphQL APIs using frameworks such as Django REST Framework, FastAPI, and Pydantic.
  • Proficiency with standard data structures, serialisation, and templating languages, including JSON, YAML, and Jinja2.
  • In-depth understanding of DevOps principles and Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Experience using version control systems, including Git and GitLab, and practical experience maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience using Ansible to automate and manage configurations.
  • Familiarity with core networking principles, including TCP/UDP, IP, DNS, routing, switching, subnetting, and VLANs.
  • Familiarity with network-specific testing frameworks like PyATS.
  • Experience with Cisco technologies, including Catalyst Center and/or ACI.
  • Experience using Nautobot, or similar Django-based applications, as a Network Source of Truth.
  • Experience with data mocking and/or factory libraries.
  • Proficiency in using Linux OS distributions, preferably RHEL.
  • Understanding of virtualisation and containerisation technologies, specifically Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform.
Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain production-grade software and custom tools, primarily using Python, to manage network infrastructure at scale.
  • Champion software engineering best practices within the team, including code reviews, unit testing, and writing clean, maintainable code.
  • Establish automated software testing strategies, build and manage CI/CD pipelines within GitLab, and develop Ansible playbooks and roles for network configuration.
  • Manage and extend network Sources of Truth by developing custom data models, plugins, and state-driven automation jobs.
  • Support and upskill existing team members to help develop their software engineering capabilities.
