Linux Technical Architect
Job Description
Salary: £40,000 - 65,000 per year
Requirements:- Previous experience in a technical position within Linux platform support and/or delivery
- Familiarity with request, problem and project management processes and tools
- Detail-oriented, process-driven, highly innovative mindset with a strong sense of ownership
- Proven track record of working well under pressure and thinking clearly in challenging situations
- Proven track record of being flexible and inventive to deliver the right outcomes
- Strong customer focus with excellent relationship management skills
- Adept at stakeholder communications across senior and broad organisational levels
- Broad and deep understanding of best practice in applying processes, technologies, and resources to deliver high-quality solutions
- Experience managing risk, compliance, audit, and security obligations, including disaster recovery and business continuity procedures
- Experience managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux production systems (RHEL 7 through 10)
- Experience using scripting to automate tasks
- Experience planning and prioritising project delivery activities
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with virtualisation technologies, including Linux under VMware
- Experience working within the ITIL framework
- Experience managing systems with RHN Satellite
- Recent experience with JBoss
- Linux performance tuning skills
- Experience with Linux failover clustering
- Experience with Kerberos for securing Linux applications and AD integration
- Experience with Cisco UCS hardware
- Experience managing third-party engineers
- Experience in resource and workload management
- Service-orientated customer-facing skills
- Proven skills in aligning IT with organisational drivers
- Industry awareness to identify and implement improvement opportunities across services and processes
- General knowledge of all areas of IT application and infrastructure
- Detailed understanding of processes and systems within the domain of expertise
- Knowledge of Puppet or similar configuration management tools
- Knowledge of big data platforms such as Hortonworks and Hadoop
- Provision Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems in both physical and virtual environments
- Perform in-situ upgrades of RHEL servers using the LEAPP upgrade tool
- Develop scripts for automated configuration management, monitoring, batch, and deployment activities
- Recommend improvements to current delivery and operational processes and procedures
- Advise project managers on Linux-related technical and delivery matters
- Work across BAU and continuous improvement activities within Digital Platforms
