Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
  • Understanding of distributed systems and microservice architecture.
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies, application resiliency, and security.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline such as cloud.
  • Experience with public cloud services in production; we use AWS.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform.
  • Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight.
  • Experience architecting, supporting, and implementing advanced, strategic CICD migrations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices.
  • Familiarity with modern front-end or back-end technologies.
  • Debugging expertise in Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of infrastructure tools, preferably Terraform, and AWS services.
  • Experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions, Artifactory, Terraform Cloud, Slack, Grafana, or SonarQube is a plus.
  • Proficiency in coding in one or more languages.
Responsibilities:
  • Drive epics individually with minimal support.
  • Collaborate with development teams to enhance the developer experience by providing tools and infrastructure that support agile methodologies and continuous integration/continuous deployment.
  • Execute software solutions, including design, development, and technical troubleshooting, with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches.
  • Create secure and high-quality production code to deploy infrastructure.
  • Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications, ensuring design constraints are met by software code development.
  • Gather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets to support continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
  • Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
  • Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
  • Proactively identify hidden problems and patterns in data, using insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture.
  • Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies.
