Lead Platform Services Engineer

Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong experience in product engineering, infrastructure, or cloud environments
• Understanding of product lifecycle and operational service design
• Experience building automation and standardised operational processes
• Familiarity with enterprise products such as storage, cloud, virtualization, and networking
• Experience with scripting or automation tools such as Terraform, Python, and CI/CD pipelines
• Ability to design scalable, repeatable service models rather than one-off solutions
• Strong collaboration skills across architecture, product, and engineering teams
• Attention to detail and focus on operational excellence
• Strong documentation and asset management skills, including version control
• Knowledge or experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma preferred

Responsibilities:

• Define Platform services scope
• Define a robust Delivery Readiness Framework for successful deployment, integrating with existing workflows
• Define service readiness criteria, operational documentation, and enablement assets before global release
• Define and establish service standards, quality measures, SLAs, and operational best practices
• Ensure product services are aligned to product releases and engineering roadmaps
• Act as the intersection between Product Engineering and Advanced Services to ensure every product service is operationally ready prior to release, including field testing and QA
• Partner with Product Engineering to operationalise new platform capabilities
• Work closely with Engineering and Product teams on technical documentation, including version control and management
• Identify enablement requirements for partners, CDP, and ASP
• Assess software release impacts and manage notifications
• Develop services engineering lab management strategy and overview
• Drive continuous improvement through automation, simplification, and standardisation
• Lead service automation, tooling, runbooks, and operational procedures to improve consistency and quality
• Lead Platform Services Engineer(s)
• Use a program management approach for governance
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders and leadership teams
• Act as technical SME for the wider Implementation Center of Excellence team
