Lead Java Full-Stack AWS Software Engineer
Job Description
Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year
Requirements:- We require formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 10+ years of applied experience, with a strong focus on AWS cloud development.
- We require hands-on experience building production-grade software in Java.
- We require experience developing and deploying containers, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
- We require experience working with both relational and NoSQL databases.
- We require demonstrated experience leading the effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, including setting expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- We require a strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security expectations.
- We require strong knowledge of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and reliability patterns.
- We require a solid understanding of networking concepts and Unix/Linux environments.
- We require experience analyzing, troubleshooting, and supporting large-scale, cloud-native systems.
- Advanced knowledge of Java, object-oriented programming, and the JVM in AWS environments is preferred.
- Experience with infrastructure as code and modern monitoring/observability practices is preferred.
- Experience working in the financial or fintech industry is preferred.
- We design, develop, and deploy high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested software solutions on AWS.
- We architect and implement microservices-based applications, leveraging Kubernetes for orchestration and scalability.
- We collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and efficient software.
- We participate in design reviews to strengthen architectural resilience, fault tolerance, and scalability.
- We drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
- We apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
- We develop and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to ensure comprehensive visibility into system health and performance.
- We troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues to maintain system integrity and performance.
- We champion best practices in software engineering, reliability, and resiliency, and mentor team members.
