Lead DevSecOps Engineer

Salary: £149,490 - 149,490 per year

Requirements:

• Proven experience leading DevSecOps teams and practices
• Strong hands-on background across cloud, automation, and security tooling
• Experience delivering within UK Government or GDS environments
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Ability to influence engineering standards across distributed teams
• SC Clearance is required for this role

Responsibilities:

• Lead DevSecOps practices across multiple digital products
• Design and improve secure CI/CD and GitOps pipelines
• Embed security scanning, vulnerability management, and compliance controls
• Drive Infrastructure as Code adoption and governance
• Implement secrets management, IAM, and policy enforcement
• Enhance observability through monitoring, logging, and audit capabilities
• Collaborate with developers, testers, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver secure-by-design solutions

We are supporting one of the UKs most significant Defence digital transformation programmes with a highly visible Lead DevSecOps Engineer role. This is a remote position on a 6-month contract with scope for extension, offered inside IR35 at £645 per day. The role sits within a complex, multi-cloud environment supporting critical UK Defence capabilities, where we will shape DevSecOps standards and embed security throughout the software delivery lifecycle. Our technology environment includes GitHub Actions, Argo CD/Argo Rollouts, Terraform, Docker and Kubernetes (EKS), HashiCorp Vault, Trivy, Grafana and Loki, Python and Bash, and AWS, Azure, and OCI.
