Infrastructure Engineer

Salary: £52,000 - 92,000 per year

Requirements:

• We need strong experience administering VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments.
• We need good working knowledge of VMware vCenter 7.0 or later.
• We need experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server 2019/2022.
• We need strong Active Directory administration experience.
• We need knowledge of Dell server hardware and iDRAC management.
• We need experience providing 2nd and 3rd line support within enterprise environments.
• We need the ability to maintain accurate technical documentation.
• We need experience working within ITIL change management processes.
• We need strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
• We need active SC Clearance to start, or eligibility for immediate transfer.
• ITIL Foundation certification is required.
• A Microsoft certification such as MCSA or equivalent is preferred.
• VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) certification is desirable.

Responsibilities:

• We build, deploy and support enterprise infrastructure platforms.
• We administer VMware hosted services and virtual environments.
• We provide 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support for infrastructure services.
• We support and maintain Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory environments.
• We configure and manage Dell server hardware and iDRAC.
• We maintain technical and operational documentation.
• We support asset management, logistics and supplier engagement activities.
• We participate in ITIL-based change management processes.
• We work closely with project and operational teams to deliver infrastructure services.
• We support onsite installation and deployment activities when required.

We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to support the delivery, deployment and ongoing support of a modern hosting and infrastructure platform within a secure defence environment. This is a contract role based onsite in Portsmouth, with occasional travel to dockyards and customer sites across the UK, with advance notice provided. We offer the opportunity to work as part of a collaborative technical team on a high-profile defence programme while contributing to enterprise infrastructure services and maintaining a high standard of service delivery.
