Data Solutions Architect

Requirements:

• Experienced in current-state data and technology discovery
• Experience with data flows, integration, and solution architecture
• Experience with target-state architecture and solution design
• Experience with cloud data environments
• Experience assessing existing systems and technical capability
• Experience reviewing and challenging supplier solutions
• Experience translating operational requirements into technical solutions
• Experience identifying architectural gaps, risks, and dependencies
• Experience producing practical implementation roadmaps
• Experience advising senior non-technical stakeholders
• Experience with geospatial/GIS, ArcGIS/Esri, imagery, video, sensor, or other complex operational data would be particularly interesting
• Able to work pragmatically and hands-on in a small organisation

Responsibilities:

• Establish what exists today across the existing environment
• Determine what needs to change to support the new contract
• Assess whether the proposed technical architecture is appropriate, proportionate, and complete
• Understand how data currently moves through the organisation
• Identify the systems and processes supporting data movement
• Identify gaps and risks in the current environment
• Compare the current environment with future operational requirements
• Define the target state
• Provide a practical roadmap for getting to the target state
• Independently assess supplier proposals and architecture designs
• Help the business understand what capability it should own internally and where external support makes more sense
• Translate the operational requirement into technical recommendations
• Advise the MD and other senior stakeholders on what is needed and what should happen next

We are a specialist UK organisation that has recently secured a significant long-term government contract and is now moving through mobilisation ahead of operational go-live next year. We are offering an interim assignment in East Midlands / Hybrid on an initial 4 to 8 week engagement, with potential to extend, at a day rate of approximately £650 to £850. Our environment includes cloud technology, data integration, operational data, geospatial/GIS, imagery and video, existing business systems, and external technology partners.
