Responsibilities:
  • We lead, coach and develop a team of up to six Cloud Engineers.
  • We manage Agile delivery, sprint planning, stand-ups and engineering ceremonies.
  • We design and implement secure Azure and Google Cloud environments.
  • We deliver Azure Landing Zones and modern cloud platforms.
  • We drive Zero Trust cloud architecture and security best practice.
  • We implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Bicep.
  • We apply Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) principles.
  • We lead cloud migration and modernisation initiatives.
  • We drive DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
  • We ensure cloud governance, resilience and operational excellence.
  • We work closely with Architecture, Security, Development, Data and Infrastructure teams.
  • We review new project requests and provide technical direction, solution design and delivery estimates.
  • We manage Azure cost optimisation and FinOps activities.
  • We build delivery roadmaps and continually improve engineering processes.
  • We manage supplier relationships and technical delivery partners.

We are a London-based council recruiting a Cloud Engineering Manager to lead a highly skilled Cloud Engineering team through one of our most exciting technology transformation programmes. This is a permanent role based in Westminster, London, with hybrid and flexible working, a salary of £79,005 to £88,149, and the opportunity to build modern Azure and Google Cloud environments from the ground up. The role is heavily technical, with around 80% focused on cloud architecture, engineering strategy and delivery, alongside leadership and people management.
