C++ QT Software Engineer

Requirements:

• A strong background in software engineering, its realisation, and system-wide impact
• Experience working in C++ and QT
• A collaborative, open approach to application development, with the ability to maintain momentum during development
• Experience working across the entire software development process, from engaging with requirement authorities to automated proving, supported with effective documentation
• Experience with new tools, techniques, and approaches that may help evolve our processes to improve efficiency and sustainability
• Experience in other languages such as Ada
• Knowledge of DDS and multi-threaded applications
• Knowledge of standards such as DefStan 00-55, DO-178C, or IEC61508 and restricted coding standards such as MISRA C

Responsibilities:

• Produce a software console product, replacing the existing version with improved software architecture to make the product more maintainable and verifiable going forward
• Deliver a remake of the product rather than a simple update
• Work primarily as an independent solo task while being based within our team for support, input, and to ensure the resulting product operates within the intended system

The role is onsite 4 days per week, with a 4-day working week acceptable from Monday to Thursday. This is a 12-month contract with very likely extension, and contracts are often ongoing and long-term thereafter. The position is inside IR35 (umbrella), and the interview process is one stage via video.
