Business Systems Engineer

Salary: £60,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong experience in either PHP/Laravel or TypeScript/Node.js.
• Proven ownership of production software and business-critical systems.
• Experience building APIs, integrations and backend systems.
• Strong understanding of relational databases and data modelling.
• Experience with automated testing and modern deployment practices.
• Ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders and improve underlying business processes.
• Comfortable leveraging AI tools while maintaining engineering quality, security and accountability.
• Experience within logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, ERP, CRM or operational systems would be advantageous but is not essential.

Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver software solutions from discovery through to production.
• Build and improve internal business systems, APIs and integrations.
• Automate workflows and eliminate manual processes.
• Support data quality, reporting and operational visibility.
• Investigate and resolve production issues.
• Contribute to AI-assisted business workflows and engineering practices.
• Improve testing, deployment pipelines, monitoring and documentation.

We are a growing international technology-driven business seeking a Business Systems Engineer to help scale and optimise the systems that underpin our commercial and operational processes. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on solving business problems through software, automation, integrations and process improvement. You will work closely with end users across sales, operations, warehousing and fulfilment to design, build and support reliable solutions that deliver measurable business impact. The role is permanent and full-time, with a hybrid UK-based working arrangement and regular time in Edinburgh.
