AI/ML Engineer

Salary: £26,000 - 54,000 per year

Requirements:

• Proven experience in AI/ML/Computer Vision R&D, such as detection, classification, segmentation, forward/backward projection, measurement, reinforcement learning, NLP, and Large Language Models.
• Significant experience conceiving novel applications of AI/ML techniques, adapting and applying academic research, and maturing capabilities toward deployable real-world solutions.
• Strong understanding of software engineering and experience working in and leading agile teams delivering complex work at pace.
• Experience developing with widely used software tools and languages across algorithm and application development, such as Python, JavaScript, and Rust.
• Experience with a modern MLOps and CI/CD software engineering lifecycle, including data management and augmentation, end-to-end model development, performance analysis, and Test Driven Development.
• Eligible to achieve SC clearance.
• Desirable: experience in Industrial Inspection, particularly in an Aerospace or high-value manufacturing setting.
• Desirable: experience combining 2D/3D vision with modern 3D rendering techniques, such as 3D rendering or reconstruction, point clouds, and/or data simulation.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver novel solutions to our customers technically complex or novel research problems.
• Take a leading technical role within engineering teams delivering small early-stage research projects and algorithmic components of larger multidisciplinary programmes.
• Provide technical expertise across AI/ML and Computer Vision disciplines, including 2D/3D computer vision, Reinforcement Learning, LLMs, and NLP.
• Work hands on to solve complex and unique customer challenges.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Support business-winning efforts through early-stage client interactions and technical bidding activities.
• Define solutions, estimate task breakdowns, and author technical content.
