LiveOps Engineer

Salary: £40,000 - 80,000 per year

Requirements:

• Experience operating production systems in cloud or hybrid environments such as Azure or AWS.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, containerisation, and supporting tools such as Helm and ingress controllers.
• Basic understanding of networking and infrastructure fundamentals, including DNS, load balancing, VPNs, and firewalls, with the ability to troubleshoot issues such as pcap analysis.
• Hands-on scripting or automation experience with PowerShell, Bash, Go, or Python.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and proficiency with version control tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins.
• Experience with monitoring and alerting solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog, Elastic, or Azure Monitor.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to stay calm during incidents.
• Collaborative communication skills and comfort working in cross-functional, fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor our live environments using observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, DataDog, and Azure Monitor.
• Respond to production alerts, triage incidents, and coordinate with SRE and Platform teams to resolve issues and restore service.
• Automate environment builds, deployments, and operational tasks using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Support and maintain our environments across Azure, AWS, and VMware, including containerised workloads, and contribute to scaling and performance improvements.
• Capture incident learnings and work with SREs and developers on root cause analysis and preventative actions.
• Improve alerting thresholds, deployment processes, and monitoring coverage.
• Maintain runbooks, document operational standards, and share operational knowledge across our cloud services.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to production alerts.
