Software Engineer II - Cloud Technology

Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year

Requirements:

• Practical cloud-native experience, including knowledge of Terraform and experience with Azure and Google Cloud
• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with applied experience
• Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
• Demonstrated ability to code in one or more languages, including Python
• Experience across the full Software Development Life Cycle
• Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
• Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes in a technical discipline such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools at work for tasks such as coding, testing, troubleshooting, or documentation, with the ability to critically evaluate and validate AI-generated outputs
• Preferred: Knowledge of cloud security best practices
• Preferred: Desire to learn and grow continuously
• Preferred: Experience writing and managing Azure Policy
• Preferred: Experience writing and managing GCP Organization Policy
• Preferred: Cloud certifications, such as GCP, Azure, or HashiCorp

Responsibilities:

• Securely enable and manage services for our Azure and Google Cloud platforms
• Execute standard software solution design, development, and technical troubleshooting
• Write secure, high-quality code in at least one programming language, with limited guidance
• Design, develop, code, and troubleshoot while considering upstream and downstream systems and technical implications
• Apply technical troubleshooting to break down solutions and solve basic-complexity technical problems
• Gather, analyze, and draw conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making in support of secure, stable application development
• Learn and apply system processes, methodologies, and skills to develop secure, stable code and systems
• Use enterprise-authorized AI coding assistance tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity, validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards
• Apply knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle toolchain tools, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized through automation
