Principal Software Engineer - Shared Components

Salary: £40,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:

• Extensive software engineering experience, with a strong background in C#, .NET/ASP.NET Core, and distributed systems
• Experience designing reusable services, versioned APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures
• Strong experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, cloud-native technologies, and modern deployment practices
• Knowledge of CI/CD, automated testing, and development tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or equivalent
• Experience leading technical initiatives, influencing architecture decisions, and mentoring engineers
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to balance technical quality, delivery priorities, and risk
• Preferred: Experience in healthcare, medical technology, or other regulated environments
• Preferred: Knowledge of PostgreSQL, GitOps, infrastructure automation, and scripting
• Preferred: Experience with secure software development, observability, and cybersecurity practices

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of shared software components and services using C#/.NET for cloud and on-premises deployments
• Define APIs, integration contracts, and component boundaries, ensuring interoperability and backward compatibility across products
• Guide architectural and technical decisions, balancing performance, scalability, security, reliability, and maintainability
• Drive software quality through code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD practices, and engineering standards
• Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of complex product, integration, and customer issues
• Contribute to safety, cybersecurity, and risk management activities, including vulnerability remediation and technical documentation
• Collaborate with architects, product teams, and engineering leaders to manage technical priorities, dependencies, and delivery plans
• Mentor engineers and help strengthen technical expertise, engineering practices, and software quality across our organization
