Backend Software Engineer C#/.NET AWS

Salary: £40,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong experience developing backend services with C# and .NET Core
• Experience building production APIs
• Good SQL skills
• Experience with system design, software architecture, microservices, and event-driven systems
• Comfort working with cloud infrastructure in production environments; AWS experience is preferred
• Experience mentoring engineers and sharing technical knowledge
• Hands-on experience using AI coding or development tools such as Claude or GitHub Copilot
• Finance or payments experience is desirable but not essential

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement robust, scalable APIs and backend services using C# and .NET Core
• Modernise existing services and contribute to rebuilding our Corporate Payments platform
• Lead delivery of new features and technical projects from design through production
• Apply system design and architectural principles, including microservices and event-driven architecture
• Design and optimise SQL databases and queries
• Write, maintain, and improve automated tests
• Work with AWS or other cloud platforms in production environments
• Use AI development tools such as Claude and GitHub Copilot to improve engineering productivity
• Mentor other engineers and contribute to technical best practices

We are hiring a Backend Software Engineer / Developer to join the rebuild of our leading international payments platform within the Corporate Payments division. You will work in a small, autonomous engineering team of around four to six people, including QA and a Team Lead, with hands-on technical ownership and the opportunity to help shape our backend services and architecture. The role is based in Bracknell, with home working most of the time and attendance at our office twice a week. We offer a salary of up to £85,000 plus bonus, 23 days holiday rising to 28 days, your birthday off, pension, life assurance, income protection, critical illness cover, and healthcare.
