Senior Software Engineer

Salary: £60,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong object-oriented software development fundamentals, with comfort using patterns and abstraction at scale
• Solid, production-grade PHP experience, ideally including Symfony or similar frameworks
• Confident use of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL
• CI/CD pipeline experience, ideally with GitLab CI
• Working knowledge of Linux systems administration and IP networking fundamentals
• Technical project management experience working with business stakeholders
• An inquisitive mindset and desire to learn
• Desirable: experience with Kubernetes, Helm, or Argo CD in production environments
• Desirable: practical experience building and maintaining Go or Node.js services
• Desirable: experience with message brokers and event-driven systems such as NATS, RabbitMQ, or Kafka
• Desirable: exposure to OpenWiFi, OpenWrt, or similar open-source network controller frameworks
• Desirable: observability experience using metrics, logs, and traces with tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and Sentry
• Desirable: experience with AI agent development or LLM integration
• Desirable: Agile/Scrum working practices
• Desirable: ISP or managed connectivity background
• Desirable: automated configuration management experience with Ansible, Puppet, or similar

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain back-end systems supporting our network infrastructure, including provisioning, monitoring, and automation tooling
• Take end-to-end technical ownership of significant workstreams, from requirements and design through to production deployment
• Contribute to and drive architectural decisions, including technology selection, service decomposition, and integration patterns
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, Helm charts, and Kubernetes configurations for production and non-production environments
• Integrate with network management systems, message brokers, and third-party APIs
• Instrument and monitor applications using observability tooling, including metrics, logs, and traces with Grafana, Prometheus, or similar tools
• Provide technical mentorship to mid-level engineers and act as an escalation point for complex problems
• Contribute to development standards, code review practices, and shared tooling across the engineering teams
