Storage Automation Engineer

Salary: £50,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements:

• 25 years in a Linux/Python engineering or DevOps role.
• Solid Python scripting skills and proficiency with PostgreSQL / SQL.
• Strong hands-on Linux/NFS storage fundamentals, including df, du, find, permissions, and mounts.
• Experience building automated alerts, webhooks, or API endpoints.
• Clear, tactful communication skills to coordinate data retention policies with stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Audit Linux NFS environments, identify duplicate or stale files, and liaise with team leads to archive or delete data.
• Maintain and expand Python applications and PostgreSQL databases tracking storage metadata.
• Build custom Python scripts, REST APIs, and automated alerts for storage threshold warnings.
• Create alerting integrations using Grafana and Slack webhooks.

We are hiring a Storage Automation Engineer for a remote role in the United Kingdom with visits as needed. This is a contract position inside IR35, initially until the end of the year, with a strong likelihood of extension. The role focuses on storage audit and cleanup, tooling and codebase development, and proactive alerting across Linux NFS environments.
