Technical Systems Analyst

Salary: £80,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements:

• Demonstrable experience analysing complex systems within regulated banking environments, with a focus on financial crime prevention or surveillance technologies
• Python and PowerShell for automation; experience with .NET and Power BI for data processing/integration
• Strong data engineering background, including Snowflake, advanced SQL, MongoDB (NoSQL), and SSIS
• Practical knowledge of Apache Kafka; exposure to Kubernetes for cloud deployments
• Hands-on GitHub usage, including branching strategies and release management
• Agile/Scrum delivery experience with JIRA and Confluence
• Exposure to AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch, and model lifecycle management, is beneficial
• Experience with transaction monitoring platforms such as Actimize, sanctions screening platforms such as Fircosoft, or market/trade surveillance platforms is beneficial but not essential
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Proactive and organised, with the ability to manage large workloads under tight deadlines

Responsibilities:

• Analyse, design, and implement enhancements for complex financial crime and surveillance platforms, including transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and market surveillance systems
• Use Python, PowerShell, .NET, and Power BI to develop, configure, script, and deliver scalable technical solutions
• Translate complex business needs into clear technical specifications, ensuring solutions are robust, compliant, and future-proof
• Conduct root cause analysis on system issues and design preventative controls to mitigate risk
• Act as the key technology contact during internal and external audits by providing evidence of controls, documentation, data extracts, reconciliations, and support for remediation
• Collaborate with Compliance, Operations, and Risk teams as a liaison between business users and technology
• Provide SME input on financial crime systems architecture and data flows
• Analyse large datasets for anomalies or control gaps while maintaining data integrity across surveillance and reporting systems
• Support model validation, including tuning ML models to enhance detection capabilities
• Participate in change management, including system upgrades, patching cycles, SIT/UAT, implementations, documentation, and version control
