Kotlin Developer

Salary: £25,000 - 50,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong experience with Kotlin, or significant Java development experience with a desire to learn Kotlin.
• Experience in at least two of the following: API Development, SQL & Database Technologies, HTML / JavaScript.
• Strong background designing and developing microservices.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience working within Agile environments.
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, GitHub, or Bitbucket.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Self-motivated, proactive approach with the ability to take ownership of tasks.
• High attention to detail and commitment to code quality.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain Kotlin and Java-based applications and APIs.
• Build and enhance microservices within a modern cloud-ready architecture.
• Collaborate closely with developers, testers, product owners, and stakeholders.
• Deliver high-quality backend functionality, with occasional front-end contributions.
• Work directly with users and customers to resolve issues and implement feature requests.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning and delivery.
• Perform code reviews and support automated testing initiatives.
• Contribute to a CI/CD culture focused on rapid, high-quality software delivery.

We are a dynamic Developer Experience (DevX) Standards & Controls team working on enterprise-scale Kotlin and Java applications, APIs, and microservices that help engineering teams and control owners manage and monitor compliance with software development standards and controls. This contract role is based in Sheffield, UK, with a hybrid arrangement of 2 days onsite per week.
