Senior C++ Software Engineer

Salary: £28,000 - 36,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require 8+ years of proven experience in C++, including modern standards such as C++11, C++14, C++17, and C++20.
• We require knowledge of DO-178 processes and safety-critical development.
• We require experience with black-box testing, verification, and requirements traceability.
• We require familiarity with configuration management and build tools such as Git, Jenkins, and CMake.
• We require an understanding of coding standards such as MISRA and CERT C++.
• We require excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• We require strong problem-solving ability and adaptability in regulated environments.
• We require the ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.
• We require a proactive approach to continuous improvement and quality assurance.
• We require a Bachelors or Masters degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or relevant technical military background with equivalent experience.
• We require candidates to be eligible to hold or already hold UK SC Security Clearance.
• We prefer exposure to RTOS, Linux, or embedded systems.
• We prefer knowledge of the ADA programming language in embedded systems.
• We prefer familiarity with requirements tools such as DOORS.
• We prefer a background in defence, aerospace, or safety-critical domains.

Responsibilities:

• We design, develop, and maintain C++ software for mission-critical defence systems.
• We apply DO-178 principles and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• We perform black-box and system-level testing and verification activities.
• We collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate software into complex systems.
• We support configuration management and CI/CD processes using Git, Jenkins, and CMake.
• We produce clear technical documentation aligned with regulated environments.
