Software Developer (Java/C++)

Salary: £49,000 - 89,000 per year

Requirements:

• Commercial experience developing with Java and/or C++
• Strong experience working within Linux environments
• Experience building backend applications, APIs and distributed systems
• Understanding of software architecture, design patterns and object-oriented programming
• Experience with multithreading, debugging and performance optimisation
• Exposure to Docker, CI/CD, DevSecOps and Git workflows
• Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases
• Active A1 SC required

Responsibilities:

• Support the development of high-performance backend software solutions within secure government and defence environments
• Design, develop and maintain scalable systems using Java and C++ within Linux environments
• Work across technical design, architecture and engineering best practices
• Develop backend services, APIs and distributed applications
• Help deliver secure, reliable and maintainable software solutions
• Contribute to technical decisions
• Collaborate with engineering teams
• Support the continuous improvement of development practices
