Software Engineer Lead

Salary: £70,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong software development background with experience in governance, technical leadership and continuous improvement
• Experience with Python, C#/.NET and JavaScript
• Experience with REST API development
• Experience with GitHub Enterprise and GitHub Actions
• Experience with Azure App Services and Azure Functions
• Experience designing and delivering software platforms, integrations or services into operational or production environments
• Experience designing for scalability, resilience, maintainability and operational supportability
• Experience with CI/CD and automated deployment
• Experience with engineering standards and technical design reviews
• Experience with architecture assurance and production readiness
• Experience with software development lifecycles and technical governance

Responsibilities:

• Establish and maintain software engineering standards, practices and governance across our organisation
• Act as the technical authority for our internally developed applications, integrations, automation solutions and service platforms
• Analyse existing technical services and identify opportunities for improvement
• Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, supportable and operationally ready before entering production
• Provide technical leadership, design assurance and engineering oversight throughout the software development lifecycle
• Review technical designs against non-functional requirements including availability, performance, security and supportability
• Manage one internal developer and oversee external software development partners, ensuring work meets agreed technical standards and requirements
• Promote engineering best practice, mentoring and the development of software engineering capability
• Contribute to the design and continual improvement of strategically important internal platforms and services
• Drive the adoption of CI/CD, automation and modern engineering practices
• Identify and reduce technical debt, engineering rework and production defects
• Evaluate emerging technologies, development tools and engineering approaches, making recommendations to our CTO
